Come explore the dramatic beauty of Iceland's inspiring nature on the VisCapades Photo Tour 2026.

A journey designed for photographers who want to capture pristine and wild naturescapes, both under the sun and the mesmerizing Northern Lights.

Over 11 incredible days, we’ll travel through the south coast and parts of highlands of the island nation, photographing pristine waterfalls, rugged fjords, inspiring coastline and sweeping glaciers - all under the magical auroras.

With us, you’ll learn how to make the most of each moment - from sunrise compositions to night-time aurora shooting - while enjoying one of the most enchanting landscapes on Earth.

Itinerary Highlights
  • Day 1 Arrive in Iceland (Keflavík). Begin the journey towards Þingvellir National Park, photographing Öxarárfoss waterfall, followed by the stunning blue Brúarfoss. Head to campsite and attempt first aurora shoot at night if conditions allow.

  • Day 2 Drive along Iceland’s dramatic South Coast. Photograph iconic waterfalls including Skógafoss and the hidden Kvernufoss, followed by coastal landscapes at Dyrhólaey Lighthouse and natural arch. Post sunset, shoot the famous DC-3 Airplane Wreck and possible aurora at Skógafoss.

  • Day 3 Sunrise shoot at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach with basalt columns and sea stacks. Continue east to Fjallsárlón and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoons. Evening and night shoot at Diamond Beach with icebergs on black sand.

  • Day 4 Begin with sunrise at Diamond Beach. Drive towards southeast Iceland, shooting Eystrahorn near Hvalnes Lighthouse and Skútafoss. Reach Vestrahorn (Batman Mountain) for sunset and potential aurora shoot at night.

  • Day 5 Sunrise at Vestrahorn. Drive through the scenic East Fjords with a major stop at Hengifoss waterfall, known for its striking red basalt layers.

  • Day 6 Explore North Iceland’s geothermal landscapes including Námafjall Hverir (mud pools and fumaroles) and the iconic Goðafoss waterfall.

  • Day 7 Continue across North Iceland photographing Reykjafoss and Kolufoss waterfalls, ending the day at Hvítserkur sea stack for evening and night photography.

  • Day 8 Full-day exploration of the remote Westfjords, featuring the majestic Dynjandi waterfall, one of the most beautiful in Iceland.

  • Day 9 Explore Snæfellsnes Peninsula (“Iceland in Miniature”) including Ingjaldshólskirkja Church, Arnarstapi cliffs and Búðakirkja Black Church. End the day at Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss for sunset and night photography.

  • Day 10 Sunrise at Kirkjufell. Drive back towards Reykjavík with a brief city exploration and a coastal photography stop at Straumur.

  • Day 11 Transfer to Keflavík Airport and conclude the tour with unforgettable memories of Iceland.

  • Any cost arising out of emergencies (medical/otherwise) for any participant

  • Any other cost not mentioned explicitly in Inclusions section

Photography (and related) Gear Expected from Participants:

  • 1 Camera body

  • 1 Drone, Remote and batteries (applies to Aerial photography participants)

  • 1 Mid range zoom lens (24-70-105 range)

  • 1 Wide angle lens (16 mm or wider, desirable)

  • 1 Sturdy Tripod

  • 1 Camera Bag

  • Camera accessories like memory cards, spare batteries, chargers, microfiber cloths, small towels etc.

  • Long Exposure Filter Kits (absolutely optional, we can help provide surely)

  • Night gear like headlamps (especially with red light feature), flashlights (desirable)

  • Clothes for all seasons especially the winter gear (cap, gloves, socks, inners, layers) and sturdy hiking shoes (waterproof). September in Iceland ranges from about +2°C to +12°C (occasional sub zero); strong winds and rain expected.

  • Rest, of course, is your usual international travel checklist !

  • Do try and pack slightly lighter than usual, in case you want to get some local souvenirs back home.

Expectations Setting for Participants:

  • Tour is Ex-Keflavik (Keflavik is the airport sister town of the capital city Reykavik) i.e., it starts, ends and covers for above mentioned inclusions.

  • Travel in comfortable camper vehicles 

  • Female participants are most welcome. Single occupancy will be provided as needed.

  • Non photography participants are most welcome too, but at the same cost as photography participants. Also, they should be willing to accept the pace of the tour as photography trips tend to be slower than usual leisure trips.

  • The core theme for this excursion would be shooting and learning nature landscapes and astro-landscapes (including auraras) using both camera and drone (if you have one)

  • Astro/Night time landscape shoots shall be conducted as per weather dynamics at locations

  • Rising really early in mornings for pre-dawn/sunrise shoots. 

  • Loads of optimism for cloudy days and readiness to skip night sleep for auroras

  • Please plan to arrive preferably the day before or before 10 am on the first day, i.e., 16th September, to allow for comfortable travel later in the day .

  • Respect for the place and people, at all times

  • Consideration and camaraderie with fellow participants during shoots and tour in general

  • A Whatsapp group shall be formed before the tour start, to facilitate communications and logistics

  • Connect with us for the tour cost and cancellation refund terms

  • You need to pay half the amount to secure your spot. The remaining balance can be paid in installments.

  • In case due to any unforeseen circumstance, a participant wishes to leave in between the trip, no refund shall be provided.

  • In case of mid tour cancellation due to any unforeseen event/natural calamity or any situation beyond our control, no pro-rated refund shall be provided.

  • There will be no refund for No Shows
